Paul “The King of TV” Goebel [Twitter] is a stand-up comic, a television nerd, a TV personality himself, and the host of The Paul Goebel Show (a great, fun tv-centric podcast on which I recently guested.)

You may know him from Comedy Central shows like Beat The Geeks and Win Ben Stein’s Money or from guest spots on Curb Your Enthusiasm and Will & Grace. (Or maybe as “Fat Umpire With Great Hair.”)

I've Been Judged (Pretty Positively)

Between my podcast and others, I’ve been talking a lot lately. The fine folks over at Podcast Squared have taken notice on their 80th episode with a review of my show. The audio critique (a six minute chunk of the recent episode — the whole show is good) was well-researched, smart, and pretty positive.

On Me: “For one, he’s funny. Not like a Jimmy Pardo/Graham Elwood/working comedian-funny, but certainly better than almost all those other non-professional comedy podcast hosts out there. He can keep up with his comedian guests and provides plenty of laughs with his non-comedian guests.”

On pornstar-less episodes: “I’d recommend this show to anyone looking for a consistent chuckle.”

I’ve enjoyed reading Marshall’s well researched and thoughtful takes on a variety of shows so I’m quite pleased to be amongst their ranks.

Colin Marshall: “The Gentlemen’s Club sets itself immediately apart from most podcasts, even most male-oriented Los Angeles interview podcasts, with a pornstar every five or so episodes. I admit I dragged my feet on listening to these, since pornstars aren’t generally known for their articulacy or variety of interests.
